Preschool!

Today was Mabry's first day of preschool. She will be going one day a week from 9 - 2.  It is a great time for Mabry to learn proper socialization (ie. sharing) and many more new things. It is also a time for me to get things done that are difficult on toddler time.  I am excited to see how much she grows and learns over this next school year! School is great for both Mabry and Mommy!
On her first day, Mabry had little difficulty being left in her classroom. She clung to me for a minute but their were no tears. When I picked her up this afternoon, she was happy to see me. She received her first award on her first day! She was the 'Chapel Angel of the Day.' She got to wear a pair of wings and help out in chapel. I also got a little card that told me a little about Mabry's day. I was excited to see that she slept on her nap mat from 12 to 1:20! I was worried that she wouldn't sleep at all! Mabry is usually a good eater so I was surprised to see that she barely ate her lunch. I'm afraid, knowing her, she was so very concerned about what everyone else was doing. I'll try to pack more exciting food next week!

Frisco Safety Town

We had a free voucher to visit the Frisco Fire Safety Town. We knew that both Mabry and Grayer would be too little to do a lot of the things, but we just thought we would give a try. The place is very neat. It is set up to teach children about fire safety inside the home and street safety. It is the coolest idea! We will definitely be going back when Mabry gets older.
They had a fire engine that the kids could play in. Both M and G were scared at first. They quickly warmed up as Pam and I showed them the cool flashing lights and all the buttons in the cab.
Mabry loved being in the driver's seat! Does that give you a little glimpse of her personality?!
All children were supposed to wear helmets outside in 'Safety Town'. This is such a neat concept to teach road safety. They have mini houses, Wal-Mart, banks, etc. You have to obey the traffic signs and signals. This course is made for bicycles or the motor jeeps they have, but they didn't mind us pushing our little ones.

Big Bruise

Mabry had a big fall a few days ago which resulted in her first big bruise. She was so excited about getting in her high chair to eat lunch. As she was running to it, her feet betrayed her and she went face first into the foot of the kitchen chair. She cried for a good 2 minutes but then was distracted by the food I was putting on her plate. Comfort food in every sense of the word!
The picture above was taken right after lunch on the day it happened.
The picture below was taken on day 2. It gave her a slight black eye.
As I was taking pictures of her, I was asking her to say 'cheese' which she does so well. She is so serious about it though! Also after I take her picture she seldom forgets to tell me 'thank you'.  This girl is so much fun!
This is Mabry saying 'cheese' for the camera.
Day 3. It now looks more like a black eye.

Fun Times!

This past week we had some fun times both shared and apart! Mabry got to stay with her cousins for a couple of days while Chad and I celebrated our 5th anniversary in Fredericksburg, TX.
Mabry loves Harris and Annabelle so much. I do believe they are pretty fond of her as well. She really enjoyed staying with them. I was happy to hear that she was on her best behavior for Brad and Rhonda. She slept well and ate well and minded her manners as much as an 18 month old can. That really put my mind at ease so I could enjoy our hike of Enchanted Rock and our exclusive cottage bed and breakfast, Ooh La La. I couldn't have asked for a better 5th anniversary!
On our anniversary night, we came back from a wonderful dinner at a local restaurant to find a beautiful setting of cake and champagne waiting for us. I felt truly pampered in the relaxing and romantic atmosphere. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone staying in Fredericksburg.
Back together again... Brad and Rhonda took us to one of San Antonio's great parks. We rode a small train around the park then got to feed some baby ducks. Feeding the ducks was fun and free entertainment. Mabry loved it. I've got to find a place like that around here.
To end the weekend right, we decided to float the Guadalupe River. This was such a fun time. It was relaxing along with some fun currents taking you swiftly through the cold water. Mabry, surprisingly, did really good while confined to the tube with either Chad or me. She liked kicking her feet in the water though got a little scared through the currents, especially when she was splashed with the cold river water.
Thank you to Brad and Rhonda for making our fun weekend possible!
